In Reply to: he's only 3' long after 3-4 *years*???? somethin's not right ... nm posted by iZ on May 23, 2002 at 15:07:51:
Im not his first owner. He had two or three owner before he came to me. He came about a foot long, with a 20 g aquarium, a bottle of what looks like some sort of iguana food (maybe, little orangish pellets, smaller than peas), a bottle of dried, dusted cricket, and a heat rock. He was tiny, not malformed, and i didn't see any signs of MBD, but he was dehydrated.
I didn't know anything about iguanas at that time, but the first site I found was the melissa kapplan site, and that helped sooooo much. I got him a u.v. light, threw out the heating rock, iguana food and crickets, got him on to a proper diet slowly, and everything else to what he needed.
I can't believe the sweet little aqua blue-green iguana I saw when I first opened the box is so mean now. It breaks my heart to think of having to give him up, if I can't handle him at all.....
: : For the past two or three months, , everytime I clean Phil's cage, and feed him, he has been attacking me. He hasn't managed to bite me yet, but he tries. I don't understand it. He used to be so sweet, and I was able to hadnle him until lately. I've had him for about three or four years now. Is this breeding season?, or did he just get more aggressive. I'll be building him a new cage as soon as I can, so he has more room. I just don't know why he's being soo mean.
: : Last time I was cleaning his cage, he was just sitting there, then he sort of skittered, charged me. I try to stand my ground so he doesn't get the idea that by doing that he can scare me off, but it's really hard when theres a 3 foot iguana coming at you. Can anybody offer ANY help, or tips? thanx sooooo much... Sarah
