All of my critters are named after literary and musical figures. Phil, our ig, is named after the author Philip K. Dick (who wrote "blade runner," among others). My chameleons are Runciter and Ophelia, Runciter from Philip K. Dick's book "Ubik," Ophelia of Shakespeare fame. And we have a cat named Coltrane (as in the saxophonist)... When we expand our chameleon family the new pair will be named Herbie (after herbie hancock) and Josie (because it's a good name).
Anyway, I think combing a favorite book or album is an easy way to get a variety of relatively unique names...
