Dear Travis

I live in Malaysia, KL.Here I am not going to find any vet able or willing to make check ups in my igs. Here igs are raised to be eaten!

I simply dont believe an ig with kidney failure will eat, yawn, strech his legs and bend his back like a cat when I stroke his belly!!!.

My friend called a vet when his female was sick. The vet came to his house, examined her and prescribed some vitamins."She does not have anything!"said the vet"She is tired that's all!".
The other day my friend called me crying on the phone. She found the female (her name was SHENA)dead in the bathroom! That's funny. We could see Shena was very sick...But the vet didn't notice any sign of sickness.Sometimes the eye of the owner is better than anything else!

Flavia
PS Did you see the photo of Godzilla? This is the one I bought 3 years ago in a street market in Jakarta.
: ""Of course I never took them to the vet to make a blood test! Why should I ?Why make my igs suffer and get stressed if they are not sick, if they eat as...very healthy igs!I dont take my kids to a doctor to make blood tests unless they are sick also!""

: Well I see your not going to listen to reason . If you go to the vet and get blood work and a fecal done you can PREVENT problems from occurring . My daughter goes to the hospital EVERY 6 months for a checkup better safe then sorry !

: ""When a ig is sick you can see by the color of his skin or by the expression of his eyes. They also stop eating and get lethargic.""

: That statement is just FALSE !!! An iguana with lets say kidney problems will not show ANY outward signs until he is very close to death .

: ""How do I know that? Because a friend of mine had a female, a very healthy and beautiful female that he wanted to mate. The male bit the female very badly. She stopped eating and died after 15 days.I went to his house to visit her and I could see, looking at her eyes, she was very sick.I suppose the male's teeth reached some mportant internal organ. We could not see anything from the exterior but she was very tired and by the color of her tongue bloodless.""

: This is my whole point . If at the time this iguana was hurt she had been taken to the vet she would not have had to die !!

: If you are going to keep these animals or any other do it responsibly . The reason there are people like me rescuing these animals is because people feel the same way you do . Ask any person who runs a rescue and they will tell you that checkups are an invaluable tool to raising these animals to be healthy adults .
