My parakeet, Lyric, loved my iguana, Salvador too! He loved to ride around on him wherever he went. I had to keep a close eye on him, but Lyric was terribly sad when Salvador died. He looked for him all the time. Lyric was pretty daring-- stealing food right out of the iguana's mouth! Salvador didn't seem to mind him unless he picked at him too much, then the ig would slap him or kick him off his back!

As for growing your own food-- I think it is a great idea (as long as you are careful with fertilizers and pesticides).
