We have to have a permit to own an iguana in the state of Maine now. I also had to get a rescue permit of sorts as there is not one officially so the IFW ( dept of Inland fisheries and wildlife ) made me a permit that says I can have any amount in my possession at any time . As for dog rescues and such I know one person that runs a Greyhound adoption and has a permit for it not sure about other rescues though .
