I posted this years ago, but since there are new faces here, I thought I might as well post it again.
This applies to anyone who wants to put live plants in their indoor or outdoor enclosures.
A friend of mine experimented by putting in mint, basil, sage, and even parsley.
No, not to marinate the animal, but for decor. ;)
These plants seem to be edible for the igs, and emit a nice scent, particularly basil and sage. All four look great, mint and parley being the more 'eyecandy' plants of the bunch.
Sure, one can put flowers, but they wont last forever, and may not always be good for the animal.
So far my friend's iguana had no side effects from eating a leaf or two. It actually eats all its food, and sometimes takes a bite at them for 'snacking'.
They dont seem to enjoy sage though. (By the way, sage is great if u grill steaks!)
In addition, as the animal walks among the leaves of these plants, it gets their smell on it. Koalas are known sometimes to smell like eucalyptus. By the way, if ur outdoor enclosure or backyard is big enough, a eucalyptus can also be good, though i dont know if the leaves are ok to eat.
Anyways, this is my 2 Cents on how to make a 'live' enclosure look good, and smell good too. Whats cool is that both sage and mint re-grow after cold winters (like here in stinkin' Joisey). Basil and parsley dont.
Thoughts or comments are welcomed.

p.s. sage can grow quiet large as a bush, and about 3 feet tall. some trimming may be needed.
