I was directed to use a wire mesh coated with PVC and for some reasons I wish I had used that, but I found (at the time of purchase) more benefits to the plastic mesh. It is made for outdoor fencing so it is durable and heat resistant plus it was very easy to work with and cut. It was no more than $10 for a huge roll I didn't even use half of. :)
