Our 8 lb 59" STL male has been in full blown breeding season since august... He went from super nice, to down right nasty. We looked into getting him neutered, at our vet's recommendation. More of an experimental task, but it was recommended by our vet, in thinking it may keep him from going through another tough breeding season. Unfortunately, we have now found out he is showing signs of early liver and kidney failure, as well as crystalization of other major organs. So for us to get him neutered at this point would be far too much stress for him.

In any event, I have posted a link to a photo essay of one of our female igs getting spayed. We were fortunate enough to be able to get pictures of the majority of the process.

: My iguana, Philbert is in his breeding season now, just like he was last year at this time, only he's alot bigger this year and alot harder to handle (duh!). I was wondering if getting him neutered would calm him down a bit. It's even been hard to clean his cage lately. Anytime he sees me or anyone, he starts bobbing, and he's even charged me once. Last year he bit me, but I've been more careful since then. I hate seeing my sweet Phil turn into a monster for part of the year. Has anyone had their male iguana fixed? did it change their attitude at all, calm them down? is it even a safe procedure? I'd rather live with a mean iguana that a dead one. Thanks in advance.
