The frayed part is outside of the tank (it may look like the inside from the picture). Although I realize it isn't the best lid, I don't see the danger in it since the fray is on the outside. At any rate, this is the tank he was given to me in (unfortunately he's probably been living there for a while), but he's getting a new home tomorrow so I can toss that crappy lid any how. :)
