THAT would be enough UVB light. KNOWING that is almost impposible for the above to occur they NEED the UVB LIGHT BULB to keep them healthy. As for your vet, if he CANT get a blood sample andhe CANT sex your iguana he's a BAD VET. Also even if he's holistic vet they at least will run tests to know HOW to treat the person Before handing them a herbal remady.
: First of let me reiterate, I do believe they need uvb, just the bulbs don't live up to it. I take tyra outside quite often, secondly my vet is a very good reptile vet however he is also a wholistic vet and doesn't believe in always loading animals up on shots and such, where herbs and other remedies may help, so to say the least he is different, but he is by far the best reptile vet around here. He himself admitted that since so few people actually bring their iguanas and such to vets on a regular basis that he does very few blood tests on them. My leopard tortoise is a petco specialty and has tons of hookworms so I have to go back in a month to get her rechecked, then we will try the blood sample again. As for why I am waiting till today for Tyras fecal is because he had already ran 4 fecals from the tortoises, which was a chore cause they weren't in a real giving mood, and I had been there for an hour and a half and he had another appointment that was waiting, and just told me he would let me know, did this bother me no, I had to get to work, kinda did it out of convienence for both of us if you ask me, rather than having me wait.
