Hi. I just recently became the owner of a Iguana. So I have been doing alot of research on the net, and found alot of info just reading the post here. I have to admit I have always been a dog and cat person so a reptile is definatly something new for me. The iguana is actually my 13 year old sons pet. A friend had got the iguana for her 4 year old son and well this didnt work out too well. The 4 year old was trying to kiss spike and spike bit his nose. So then the 4 year old was afraid of him. So I got this bright idea that this would be a great pet for my son, since he is older. We have only had "Spike" for about a week. My son has not seen him yet since he has been at his dads for spring break, but he comes home today, and I am so excited to see his reaction. Anyway I had to care for Spike all week and I have to say I am allready attached. LOL He is too cool. I was told he was a blue iguana? I couldnt find much info on the net regarding that. He is about 8 months old they think. My friend had bought him at a pet shop and that is what they told her. I would say he is about 14 inches long. So in light of that how much should he be eating each day? Im just afraid he isnt eating enough. But this is coming from the owner of a 100 lb. Husky/Lab mix that the vet wants to loose weight. LOL So I do tend to overfeed my animals a little. I read that Iguanas wont overeat, is this true? If so this is the perfect pet for me. LOL Now you will all get a little laugh out of this. The cage he is in is about the size of a 20 gall aquarium, maybe a little bigger. My friend tells me this should last a couple years. Ha Ha From what I have read it isnt going to last us long. Thats ok my hubby is pretty good at building stuff and he is going to have a new project pretty soon. LOL Well I just wanted to introduce myself and I am sure I will be bugging all you experienced iguana owners with questions, so please bear with me. Thanks for listening to me ramble. Tami
