What I'm thinking, is maybe rubbing something that tastes bad on his tail, so its less desirable to chew on. But, I'm not sure of what is safe enough for the iguana's for that method.
You can always ask the vet to install one of those collars around his neck/head to let his tail heal, and keep him away from it?
