Spinach binds the calcium; kale binds iodine. Both are okay to feed but not on a daily basis. I use kale may be once a month for the week it takes me to use it up. I use spinach maybe 3 times a year just because of the calcium binding thing.
Our igs are adults. We use coffee cup saucers to feed them on (NOT my idea but hubby started doing it that way & now NO ONE wants to use them even tho they are thoroughly cleaned with anti-bact. soap & run thru the dishwasher....because we've all seen what can happen to those plates LOL) After I have sliced, diced, shredded, grated, etc. whatever foods I'll be using over the next few days into a tupperware type bowl, I put a handful on each saucer that is stacked maybe 2 inches high. Scoop with hand & add to pile until it fills the saucer nearly to rim & is about 2 inches high. I have no idea how much that is.....because it's going to vary depending on what foods you are using.
BTW our female barely ate at all right before egg laying. There's just not that much room for food and up to 40 eggs.
