Basically 'Vita-spray' is for use for reptiles that may not have as humid a cage as they need. I use it on mine because i have a hard time keeping his humidity at the right lvls, so at least this way i know his skin is moist and it helps him shed. However, if you can keep his room/tank humid - you don't need the spray.
As for the food, sounds like your on the right track. Take the lettuce out for good and just give him the salad, he will learn to eat the greens and veggies. Any time you switch foods it may take them a day or 2 to get used to and start eating normally. I'd also recommend puting a calcium supplement in your ig diet, because he probably hasn't had a lot of calcium from just that lettuce (none if that's all he's been fed).
Make sure you have some UVB lights and correct basking temps as well.
You still should take that guy to the vet tho. Most pet store iguana's aren't that great looking to begin with (my first one was a pet store bought one...oh the horror of that poor thing. The vet took one look at it and said take it back and get your money back, and also sent a letter explaining how they mistreated the animal to the pet store). The vet can also go over key ideas for parantage of iguanas. I have to say i learn more from having one then when i did my 6 months of research.
Also - don't misjudge a 'calm' personality for actually being malnurished and weak. Your iguana could actually be in very bad shape and you may not know it.
I'm sure others will answer as well with their ideas/experiances.
