: For the last few days,Mary and I have been trying to decide on taking in a special critter. While buying cat and dog food Friday at petsmart, we were checking out the animals for adoption, as we always do. We really don't have room for much more, and our jobs preclude having many animals, but every now and then, you get hit with something that you just know you have to do...
:
: As we looked at the cats, I noticed one named "Mr. Bigfoot", so I checked him out closely, and sure enough, there was a polydactyl cat! (Polydactyl= A genetic trait which breeds true, and causes multiple toes) None of the rescue personell knew what it was, and all thought he was really freaky. They were having a hard time adopting him out, because no one wanted a deformed cat. He's not deformed, just special. All of these toes work! When he walks, it looks like he has thumbs on the front feet!
: Well, after a few days of thought, today we adopted him! We were afraid someone would finally get him that didn't know what he was, and not treat him accordingly. Polydactyl cats should not be declawed, and sometimes need a little special care on the toes. He's a sweetheart.
: Here's a couple of quick pics, and I'll get some better ones to post later.
: I don't think he'll stay "Mr. Bigfoot" Any name suggestions?

: How about those feet?
:
:
: Looks like he has 7 on the front, and 6 on the back...
: Sorry to be off topic, but just wanted to share this....
