Rescuers need help to care for rescued exotics

The more than 100 exotic reptiles seized in a February 7 rescue by the Cocheco Valley Humane Society and Broken Reptile Rescue and Education of Manchester from Feeding Time on Chapel Street in Dover, has severely taxed the finances and overwhelmed the two organizations.

More than 60 reptiles and amphibians are in the care of Broken Reptile. Members of Broken Reptile are using their personal resources to care for the needy exotics, paying hundreds of dollars in equipment and high utility bills to ensure proper temperatures and humidity for these creatures.

Many of the animals are dying and all have required tremendous medical care, according to Broken Reptile President Michael Dillon. Cochco Valley has helped provide equipment, secured large donations of food and provided staff to help with medical care and worming of all the reptiles and amphibians.

Broken Reptile is in desperate need of financial help, as well as additional volunteers to help care for these animals.
