Q about dislocations/breaks..(and my ig =/)

Before any of you jump the gun, i want to let you know i'm calling the vet and trying to get him in early morning. That said i'd like to ask a few questions.

My ig basically thrashed around violently while i was holding him, attempting to put him back in his cage (he's yet to be tamed)and i think i injured his leg somehow. It's been 2/3 hours and i'm assuming it's either broken or dislocated.

I know with minor breaks they tape the leg to the tail, and major breaks they put a pin in his leg.

What do they do about dislocations? Do they just pop the shoulder back into place?

Every time i look at my ig i wanna cry. I don't want it to end up like a cat i had. He came home one day with a dislocated back leg, vet basically said it'd cost upwards of 500 dollars and my parents werent' willign to pay that much for a stray cat. We had to put him to sleep. I'm hoping it's just a break and they can monitor it and tape his leg to his tail or put it in a cast (that really work? 0.o)

I'll post tommorrow after my trip to the vet. I feel so awful about it =/
