: Hi everyone... its been a few days (at least!). This is what I have been up to...

: We only got one rescue in the last week or so... Kinda slow :-) A sick little one yr old (poss) female. BAD MBD, broken limbs, missing claws, and just all around sad. She seems to have a strong will though...

: We are working on major projects, all spurred because I am moving out of my house, and into the rescue. I mainly want to be able to work closer with the animals on a daily basis rather than drive 20 minutes across town every day. And besides, its just not fair for our area manager to have to try to do it all by herself when I cannot make it over. So... by the end of the month, I will be moved in, and living with over 70 reptiles :-)

: Because of me moving in, we are redoing the herp "area" from the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and one bedroom, all to the master bedroom (lots of room!), and the bathroom off the master bedroom as well. The walls will be completely lined with cages for snakes and smaller lizards, and we are going to attempt to free roam as many iguanas as possible. We have 12 adults and 4 1-2 yr olds that we are going to try to free roam initially... The other 7 juvies are too small or too sick to do that with. Sounds scary, I know!! But... Our main rescue successfully free roams large groups of Igs, with relatively few incidents. Of course, there will be some problems, but we are going to give it a try. The room will be completely remodeled before we move all the Igs into it... We are installing linolium, covering the walls from the floor to about 6 ft up with plastic, and putting wire shelving all the way around the room. The shelving will be at multiple levels with heat pads for everyone and lots of UV lights. Hopefully everyone will decide who likes who, and they will have enough room to feel like they have their own personal space. Luckily we have enough large cages to separate any real problem children :-)

: We also have a water monitor who will finally get to free roam!! It will be so nice to get him out of his cage for good!

: A large turtle tank will be set up in the room, although I imagine it will turn into an iguana tub and bathroom :-)

: LOL, at this point you guys are all probably thinking I have totally lost my mind... But really, I have seen a setup like this, and it CAN work! I will definitely post some pictures when it is all complete. I may accidentally forget to post the first few weeks' horror stories though :-)

: And on my personal breeding project side of things... My female jackson's chameleon unexpectedly had 9 babies... Silly me didnt even know she was gravid!! So am supplying fellow rescue friends with free chameleons :-)

: Leopard Gecko eggs are hatching... And at the rate my females are laying eggs, I should have hatchlings every week now for the rest of the summer! Since I currently have 17 Leos, I am seriously contemplating how many babies I will keep :-) They are just so darn hard to let go though!!

: Well, I hope everyone is doing good, and having fun with their scaley friends. I know I am!

: Mark
