: In regards to all the free roaming rescue iguanas. Im wondering doyou have all the females spayed?

We do not have any of the females spayed..

Im wondering how you will deal with there natural mating if left to do so?

Yes, mating will most likely occur. Not the end of the world... We dont incubate eggs, and if there are concerns about egg binding... That is something that can happen even without the presence of a male.

Also how are you going to prevent fighting between a big group of them enclosed in one room? Im coriouse as to how this will work.

Well, this is kind of a trial and error thing. There will be little fights, that is just a known fact. All we can do is see who gets along well, and who doesnt. We have other places to put the igs that refuse to adapt... But from what I have seen, with a large enough area, and enough basking spots, most of the igs will either pick out their own little area, or find a friend to share an area with.

I'm not saying this will go smoothly, it will definitely take some time to get everyone settled. But it will be well worth it in the long run. Right now we spend every evening cleaning over a dozen iguana cages... VERY time consuming.
