First, how long have you had your iguana? Where did you get it, and do you know how old it is? What are the temperatures in the cage, and what are the humidity levels?

If you just got it a few days ago, I wouldnt expect it to eat for up to a week. Iguanas are very particular animals, and do not adjust well to change.

If your temps and humidity are all out of wack, that can cause problems as well. A cold, dehydrated iguana will not eat.

If this is an adult, they can be even pickier. My Rahm hasnt been eating good for about a week now, just because I took him out last weekend and used him for a reptile handling course that we held for local police, fire dept, and rescue workers. He is not quite done punishing me yet...

STOP feeding it lettuce... That is worthless food. There is a LOT of info on the web about good iguana diets. As a staple, start out with collard, mustard, and turnip greens. Add misc fruits and veggies to that, as well as a few brightly colored treats to make it look a little more appetizing. DO not spread it out all over the cage... Put it all on a paper plate in one area. Always place the food in the exact same area, to help establish routine. Also, feed at the same time every day, so your Ig learns when it is time for dinner.

Most timid hatchlings will not eat out of your hand right away... As well as recently uprooted adults. Hand-feeding can get to be a problem as well, if you do it too much. You dont want your iguana to ONLY eat out of your hand... And they will get used to this and demand you hand feed them.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
