Hello!

I think the temptation to breed your iguanas would
be very great. I love my ig a lot and I think it
would be cool to see what his little offspring
would look like, not to mention the experience of
hatching, etc. BUT, and this is a big but, I think
you need to look at the bigger picture of this my
friend. National Iguana Awareness Day is coming up
in September and the main point of it is that there
are too many uninformed owners and breeders and vets
and pet stores out there. The idea of bringing more
unwanted iguanas into the world is scary. It's like
owning a mutt... why breed it? You can't keep all
the puppies, they are not worth any money, the pound
is full up. But the worse part about breeding igs
is that you just don't feed them kibble... they are
hard pets to own and even if you do find owners for
those adorable little baby igs, are they all going
to be QUALIFIED owners? Are the igs just going to
end up as someone's throw away pet, like 98% of
them do anyway?

I can totally see breeding iguanas IF you have a breed
that is endangered or rare. But Giant Green Iguanas
(Iguana Iguana) are CHEAP to buy, available in just
about every pet store in every town and a huge
percentage of them are given up when they start
getting big.

I hope you will seriously consider bringing more
baby iguanas into the world. You sound like
someone who really cares about your igs, so I hope
you will do some forward thinking on this.

Good luck to you.

Julie
