cleaning wood branch

I just purchased a branch from a pet store and would like to put it in my iguana's tank. It was in a tank with three snakes and wondering how to clean it. I used a garden hose to spray and scrubed it with a rag. I was told told to use a mix of 10% bleach to water. Is this really necessary because I am worried about not getting all of the bleach off?
