alot of times vets/docs/nurses/etc. don't like to do ANY kind of procedure in front of "the parent" ... that way, they can concentrate on keeping the patient calm + getting done and they don't have to worry about "mom" (or "dad"!) passing out ... *grin*
usually they use the vein in the base of the underneath of the tail ... it's a nice big vein, easier to get with the 1st poke ...
the best technique i've ever seen (yeah, i like to watch ... LOL) ...
they put iZ on the exam table with his tail hanging over the end, the vet got on his knees so he could see ...
(ok, that sounds really kinky ~ do you understand what i mean tho??? :) )
someone who is really good, will only take 10-15 seconds for the entire blood draw ...
glad to hear Lizzy is on the mend!
