That poor poor snake (im not a snake person okay to look at touch on rare occasion but not in my house type person lol) but that poor creature. Was the fate of the snake im assuming it didnt survive am I correct? Thanks for the info and like I say to other rescues I know THANK YOU for all that you do.
: : I thought with all that went on below id make a small survey here to enlighten a few people that arent aware or eevn just the ones who happen on the board.
: : How long have you been doing iguana rescue? (Or reptile rescue)
: 18 years
: : When you first started what did you have to get started?
: Around a year after I got my iguana A friend of a friend had an iguana he no longer wanted and I already had one so he figured I must want another one .
: : Did you set a limit when you first started?
: I did not realize I had " started " until it was to late . LOL
: : How many rescues do you have NOW?
: Three . Iguanas are not legal for pet stores to sell here (Maine) anymore so I went from three rooms and a garage full of cages to one room and two cages .
: : How many other reptile species did you get in besides iguanas, even though your plan was iguanas ONLY?
: Well I did not plan this . I have taken in more animals then I could ever remember . As soon as people find out you take sick animals they will bring them wether you want them to or not . I have had roaches up to a fawn brought to me . I am lucky that I know many people that have experience with the things that I do not . I have a " Network " of people to take snakes and the other animals I do not have the ability to care for .
: : What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start a rescue?
: BE PREPARED !! Think of the worst thing that can happen and be ready for it to happen twice in the same day .
: : What is the WORST thing you have seen (personally) in your rescue?
: I took in a snake about 6 foot long that has severe burns ( heat rock ) on its belly when I picked it up to put him in a clean cage his insides broke through the burn and fell on the floor with parts still attached I ran to the sliding glass door but was unable to open it and puked all over it . Thank god my wife loves me ..
: : WHy did you get into rescue?
: See above .
: : What would you change from when you started to what you know now?
: Other then wanting to get to many of the animals sooner NOTHING . I love doing it at the end on a long week scrubbing the iguana rooms chopping a fridge full of veggies and finding a home or two and having a couple iguanas look at me and I know they are happy that makes me feel on top of the world .
