Heh, here's where that wonderful boyscout training
comes in helpful.... at last count I had found around
13 weeds that commonly grow in lawns in pennsylvania
(most likely in other US places too) that are
edible by humans. I'd be willing to wager that
most of these are also iguana palatable too.
With dandelions (which happen to be served in some
very expensive restaraunts in soups and salads)
you want to eat it all, every bit is good, including
the flower, but before it goes to seed, then it
get's bitter, and my turts, pigs that they are,
don't like it after it get's bitter. SOOOOOO,
yes, feed it all, for the turts and torts, the yello
flowers are a special treat, maybe igs will like em
too, we'll have to see in the spring.
Oh, don't pick them if you've sprayed in the past
couple months, and don't pick them right near a road
or parking lot.
Wash them well, and then serve!
You can eat them yourself too, there are also these
little weeds that taste like bitter apple candies,
very keen when you can kneel down, pick up some
weeds and chew....
scares my friends though... they just don't understand
that I have to test the crop before I serve to my
pets, like any good cook!
: I read somewhere that they could eat stems and flowers,too...I just didn't know if it was the same dandelion....sounds weird, but I just wanted to be sure!!
: (how's sneakers?) :o)
