Anyway....enough of this...on to the forum for iguana lovers.....since this isnt a forum for "try to discourage people from saving reptiles lives"

Crystal

: I know for one I dont have the rescourse to do out and out rescue SO NO animals come to my door (well except the ones that stay here). I dont understand how you feel this is all some massive attack on you. You think you are ready and for the animals that are goign to be there I PRAY you are but I doubt you are, with the answers you give. You are NOT understanding the magnitued of what you are about to do. PLEASE if there are other rescues around talk to them FIRST then do fostering for them BEFORE you start and out and out rescue that you are at least showing here your not prepaird for what is to come.

: : Well Christy, what happens when these animals are dropped off on YOUR doorstep? What makes me any different from you, especially when you first got started with rescues. I WILL find a qualified vet to spay, neuter, whatever may be needed. As long as they are in my home, I will have a cage for them, food, love, and whatever is needed. If it so comes along that I CANT care for this animal, I will find someone who can...like another rescue..we have plenty around here and surrounding areas. If none of them take the animal...I guess I will be stuck with it to rehabilitate and house for as long as it needs it. I am just as capable of doing things as everyone else here...even tho I know it is a hard task. I know that there will come a day when animals will be dropped off with burns, cuts, bruises, broken bones..or like in the posts below..VERY bad injuries. They are welcomed in my house, and will receive the BEST veterinarian care I can provide. If euthanasia is best, then I know I have no other choice, unless the animal can be saved any other way. If multiple surgeries are needed, which will cost me THOUSANDS of dollars, I will gladly oblige them. I know that electric bills, food bills, gas bills, etc. will go up, and im willing to face that task.
: : I also know that some tasked CANT be faced, no matter how hard anyone tries....those will be dealt with in the appropriate manner. If a burmese python comes to my door with SEVERE lacerations to the head or body, first thing to do would be to go STRAIGHT to the vet, have him checked, if surgery or euthanasia is needed, I will pay for that, no matter the costs. These animals mean alot to me, money is not an issue with me and I will be willing to pay ANY fee. If it comes along that I cant pay a fee, then I will do my best to find someone else willing to do it, even if it means searching the whole country to find someone, or driving the animal 5,000 miles away to get it there.
: : So is there anything else I am missing here?

:
: :
: : : I need a diversion from all this packing or I wouldnt waste my time. Crystal NO ONE has said you CANT handle it what people are saying is your not being RELASTIC about it. What happens when you have an iguana dumped on your door so severly abused negected that its going to cost a couple hundred dollars off the top just to get them the begining of trying to help them. WHat happens when the alligator gets dumped on you? THe snakes, turtles, other misc. Reptiles? If you are going to have to rely on FAMILY to help you with finical aspects of this your NOT ready to do this. Do you have a vet thats going to spay the egg bound iguana right away before you pay them? Before you hit up family for the money? You just need to LISTEN and READ whats being posted. NO ONE is against you and your continued I CAN DO IT and thats it post shows nothing in the way you can do. Education is the key here, Ask mr D and Ig chick ask EVERYONE that rescues HOW many they were going to LIMIT to then ask them how many they have NOW. You need to be RELEASTIC going in instead of stary eyed and close minded.

: : :
: : : : Yes, Christy, lots of people knocked her. But you people are on the interenet reading posts and sites, and basing judgement on that. I know Crystal personally, and I have been working with these animals for a long time. I know for a fact that she has the capabilities, financial and emotional, and I know she will have a successful, because this is something she has planned for a very long time.
