leaping,climbing, pooping lizards!

couple of things, just thought i'd start a new thread ...
as far as leaping lizards: iZ has taken a flying leap *many* times! (i wonder if that's how he broke his tail last fall?!?) he's mostly learned now, that it's *not* a real good idea cuz he usually misses! once, he *tried* to leap 6' from his livingroom shelf to the nic-nack shelf on an adjacent wall ... crash, bang, smash ... and an indignant look on his face saying "i *meant* to do that!" (uh huh, sure)
i've also heard *many* stories of angry or hormone driven igs leaping at their humans ... (which is why i *back* out of his room when he's having a bad day!)
i s'pose that in the wild, they leap from branch to branch ... ? the thing is, with their long tail, they don't seem to be able to leap very *gracefully* ... definitely NOT cat-like! LOL
as far as poop 1/2way up the wall .... hmmmm .... i've seen iZ do a darn good job of attempting to scale a smooth wall, using his tail as a tool to push himself up and hold himself! he's gotten his back feet a good 2' off the ground, straight up a smooth wall ... (too bad a don't have a pic of *that*!) i can see an ig plotting revenge or a practical joke and doing that and then poopin' .... ("heh heh heh! let's see her figure *this* one out!") they have a warped sense of humor ...
Nate: you seem impressed with the *size* of ig poop ... it's always *amazed* me!!!! but that is also why it's very important to not let your ig go too long without 'going'! it can get dangerous very quickly ...
when i was a brand new ig-mom and hadn't found this board yet, iZ got *SEVERELY* stopped up to the point where he was so bloated it was affecting his breathing! of course, i didn't realize how bad it was until a sat. morning on a holiday weekend ... the only vet that was willing to see a 'new patient' was a vet 1/2 hr away, who'd never seen an ig, but was willing to try at least ... by the time we got to her office, iZ was open-mouthed and panting for air .... (that was when we realized he burned his tongue on his heat lamp, but *that's* another story ...) she did blood tests (and had a vet tech run them *back* to the town we came from, to a vet who refused to see iZ, to get the results right away) basically, she wanted to rule out kidney failure and did ... decided he didn't have a respiratory infection ... (i KNEW that!) but he was extremely dehydrated, so she gave him sub-q fluids, gave me medicine for his tongue and sent us home .... i was in tears cuz he was still not being able to catch his breath ... so during the drive home, i decided cursing vets wasn't gonna help and i'd better think about what to do next ... none of the vets were going to believe me that he couldn't breath cuz he was constipated! and i *knew* that was the problem!!! i remember reading (*years* ago) in my Dr. Spock Baby Book about putting kids in a warm tub if they get constipated .... hmmmmm .... it sure couldn't hurt to try it!
well, this poor ig, had had a rough childhood and was *terrified* of the tub : ( so i had to lean over the tub so he could sit on one arm and hold the top of his body with my other hand so he wouldn't freak out ... the soak *is* supposed to relax the muscles after all! i'd soak him for like 45 min. and then let him go back in his house, and then a couple hours later, i'd soak him for another hour and put him back in his house .... FINALLY! the 3rd soak, he **POOPED** HOORAY! i swear he was only half the size empty as he was full! poor baby! (and THEN i find *this* place and discover that that's pretty much standard practise!!!! geeez! *grin*)
ANYway, that's why pooping *IS* a big deal!!!! i really do think he'd have died that weekend if i hadn't thought to soak him when i did ...
(this was also the time in his/my life that i learned about infalyte and coax-feeding baby food! AND how to put medicine on an ig's tongue!)

whew! that's *my* story for tonight! any questions class? LOL
