Rhinoceros Iguanas are a member of the Cyclura family, 17 species of iguanas found only in the West Indian Islands. All of the species are endangered, some of them critically like the Cyclura nubila lewisi which it's believed there are less than 200 lizards left in the wild. They are losing their fight against habitat destruction, being preyed upon by dogs and feral cats, and yes, even cars and trucks. There are very few people breeding the Cyclura in captivity, mainly because they can get huge, tend to be somewhat antisocial with other lizards, and can live 50+ years. They are not farmed by the millions like their green cousins. It took me a long time to find the right animals to complete my pairs of Rhinos, Lewisi hybrids, and Cuban Rocks. I'm not suggesting that this fellow purchase a half dozen Rhino iguanas because they require just as much time and effort as GGI's and eventually take up more space and live longer than the greens.
