First and foremost DO YOUR REASEARCH. Please make sure they are for you, check out feeding, lighting, uvb lighting, heating, daily care, there cage requirments, all the good and bad about iguanas. If your STILL intrested I commend you for first wanting to adopt.
Now heres a bit of My story
I came to a forum where MR. D (aka MR. IG CHICK HEHE)posted on and gave great advice. I had been researchign for a while and decided that I indeed was ready for the massive responsibilty of an iguana. I wanted a baby to "tame" and start off, I didnt want a sickly, mean iguana (BOY where I got that from ill never know but anyway). Mr D was willing to help me find an iguana. Well long story short I didnt think I could "handle" a rescue iguana and there problems. IN I walked to a pretty good petstore one day that takes in dumped animals on there door and tries to help them. Well DD was there I heard her story went to check on her and she left with me that day adn there I was she decided I could handle a rescue and she decided She was comming home with me (more on her website linked below). Long story short I didnt think I was ready, I was, and it was SO SO rewarding to help her and to see how far she has come. Contact the local rescues in your area and if they dont have any in the age you are looking for then they can probably help you find a resuce that does have one. An adult or sub adult can be just as sweet and cuddly and loveable and just as rewarding as any baby iguana can be.

: Are the adult iguanas that are put up for adoption usually sickly and/or overly aggessive? Also would it be better for a first time iguana owner to buy a baby or juvenile iguana or an adopt an adult iguana
