animals that the resucers have to pick up or the ones that die and suffer in a 10 gallon tank till the point of death is better??? Sorry but DO NOT hatch them unless you are prepared to care for almost 50 iguanas requiring seperate enclosures for the remainder of there life.
: : So very sorry for bothering you folks here on the Iguana forum. Perhaps you should change the name of it to the Anti-Iguana forum. I can't believe that someone who was truly dedicated to the well being of iguana would condone the practice of abortion. I certainly believe that the world is too full of humans, but I don't believe that executing them at birth is the right solution.
: I often find myself talking well meaning parents out of buying that "cute little iquana" for their child, even though I am very happy to share my home with two very special male iguanas. I am as aware as anyone of the unfortunate plight of many iguanas in the pet world today. My friend that is currently incubating eggs is also aware of the problem out there. He is a reptile rescuer. He has saved many reptiles from negligent and/or ignorant people. As a matter of fact, the aforementioned adult iguanas were rescues that he nurtured back to health. The eggs were an unfortunate side effect of temporarily housing the adults together until he could obtain another cage. Or maybe you would have had him leave the animals suffering at the hands of the teenager who had lost interest in them months ago?
: At any rate, he was surprised by eggs, and is now trying to take care of them as he would any other living thing. If you want to see fewer iguanas in the world, freeze your own. He and I do not condone such an atrocious manner of handling such a problem. The deed is done, he will accept the responsibilty dealt him. He plans to adopt them out to people that he has screened and who have been made fully aware of the responsibilty ahead. He has even considered paying out of his own pocket to have them spayed and neutered.
: NOW, IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS OTHER THAN OUTRIGHT MURDER, THEY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
