I think he was just frozen to the point where his systems had shut down. Some of his fur actually cracked off when I picked him up, he was that cold.
The thing is, if he does have an owner, he's been poorly cared for and at this point I don't know if I'm inclined to return him to a potentially abusive environment. He's skinny and his gums are swollen; I think he's having trouble eating and he has sores around his front teeth. It looks to my like he's been abandoned because he's so skinny.
We're thinking about moving into a three-bedroom and adding a roommate (my boyfriend is moving in), and I guess then we'd be able to dedicate half the house to the cat and the other half to the iguana.
But for the time being, we may have to make do with a 2-bedroom apartment. Phil has a cage, and he's been spending half the day in that and the other half on my shoulder. I guess we'll just have to wing it until we decide what to do.
: I agree with Chris, post some "found cat" pictures in some public areas. Call your local animal shelters, and see if anyone has been asking about a cat. Check her inner thighs, does she have a tattoo? The shelter will also check her for a microchip. Leave your name and number, in case someone calls to claim the cat. If not, and you really like him, you may be able to make it possible. Could you possibly dedicate a room to phil? Cats are horrible with confinement, and may become destructive.
: I've heard of iggies being thawed out, but never cats! WAs he just very cold and his systemd shutting down, or COMPLETELY frozen, like a popsicle?
