I've trimmed Tarzan's nails since he was very young, so he is used to it. I just have him in a casual environment, and pick up a foot and clip as fast as I can, before he moves.
If oyu have a lot of trouble having him hold still, you can ask someone to wrap a towel around the iguana, and hold the tail --be careful of the mouth too! then, pick up a foot and clip. I've attatched a link to a diagram I drew up for clipping iguana nails. Have some styptic powder, flour, or starch handy just in case you cut too far. you can use regular nail clippers --thats what I use anyway. If the nail is very large, it may splinter, so be careful. Make sure that the clippers are sharp, as dull ones will just compress the nail.
