Shedding and spikes...

My Ig....a rescue, maybe about 4. Has major shed retention on his spikes. Now that I have been giving him a bath and shower daily, I see them peeling. But.....I also see a bit of blood here and there??? He is going to the vet next week when I am off, he also has some dry gangrene of the tail.. I am wondering if the spikes are sort of regenerating?????? I have been cleaning the areas with peroxide and applying neosporin. I know he should see a vet...and he will. But, I'd like somefirst hand knowledge with this. He is healthy, proper diet and all that....uvb...ect....Thank you!!!!!!
