I cannot think of a single time any of our iguanas ONLY touched our hands...

Yes I totally am aware that Salmonella is a danger but im more inclinded to belive you can get salmonilla from chicken or other sources easier than from a reptile. My thinking also is that an infant should have NO contact with an iguana at all so theer should be no risks if the parent has the sense to clean there hands well after any contact with the iguana. Personally id be more inclined to belive an older child would be more apt to get samonilla from a reptile being that they are older would be allowed some contact and getting them to wash there hands can be tough lol. If you ahve any info or find the info you were refering to about salmonilla deaths with a newborn where it relates to a reptile id love to read it. my emails above if you want to just email me. I also ment no offense to anyone but I felt the question had to be posed that if iguanas were given up or rehomed for a pregnancy would if another even unplanned pg occur would the NEW iguana then be given up to.

: : Salmonella, part was on the net. An article that I read that someone had posted on this forum about 1 year ago. I'll try and find it again. Also, MK's book talks about it on page 12 and 138. Notice on p.12 it states..."Even mild strains can be deadly to humans who have compromised or immature immune systems: infants, toddlers, the elderly, etc....." Sorry to bring this up again, but someone wanted proof. It's definitely not something to take lightly. I APOLIGIZE if I have offended anyone, especially you Christy!
