This doesn't so much matter of what's right and whats wrong, its a matter of opinion. Some people go to different lengths to protect those they love. It's not like they just chose to throw them away, the had what they thought is a good reason. If they thought that getting rid of their pets would be safe for their children then so be it. So what if you wouldn't have made the same choice? Who are you to say that what they did was wrong? Wanting to protect your wife and children, especially in a venerable state is wrong to do now? It comes down to opinion and choices that people are willing to make for whatever reasons they may have, and if you think it's wrong, or at least you wouldn't do it, then thats your problem.
And yes, we know all about the pain and suffereing of you and your children and what you all went though, but that doesn't hold any ground on any one else's opinions of what to do in this case.
Simply put, just becasue someone does something that you wouldn't do, doesn't make them, or their action stupid, just different.
People are allowed to have their own opinions and are allowed to make thier own decisions, and while we see yours plainly (how couldn't we...), that doesn't give you ANY reason to try and force it on anybody else.
