I am sorry that they did not have the same willpower as you, but what was done is done, and I also stick to my opinion. Better to educate, and prevent another incident such as this, than simply discourage the people from having any more pets. and, who says that the previous pets were not important? It is heart-breaking to see a pet go, but when worst comes to worst, and you have hundreds of people breathing down your neck, not all people can show as much resistance as you :)
