It would be better if you built him a large cage, that would last him his whole life, or would be ok until he might need a whole room. It would also be much cheaper! Moving iguana's from cage to cage can become very stressful, because they are animals who like routine. Buying bigger and bigger tanks or cages would, in the end, be much more pricy than having 1 or two enclosures throughout its lifetime.
Build a large enclosure, maybe 5' tall, 5' wide, and 2-3' deep. This will last him throughout his juvenile life, and maybe a little longer. Then, after that, you can build him his permanent enclosure, which should be 6.5 ' long, minimum 6' high, and around 3-4 feet deep. OR, You can dedicate a walk in closet or ROOM to your iguana.
