Maybe if your wife becomes pregnant again, you can try to simply distance yourself from the reptiles and/or other pets? Some proper hygeine is all that is needed :)

Like Christy said below, you can contract Salmonella form raw chicken. If only you become the caretaker of the animals, and clean up well after you're donw handling/interacting with them, I'm pretty sure everything will be a-ok :)

If you are still too wary, maybe you can ask a friend to temporarily care for your animals?
