In Reply to: Bleeding Iguana please help....Mr. D posted by Kim R on February 18, 2002 at 16:43:26:
Hello Kim!
I remeber the first time Tarzan lost one of his nails... I panicked! There seems to be SO much blood! I frantically dug up some styptic pencils (which didn't work too well with stopping the bleeding). But the toe kept on bleeding. So, I quickly filled the tub up with some warm water and poured in some betadine. I let Tarzan soak in there for a few minutes. This will help to stop the bleeding and to disinfect the wound.
What you need to do, is search throughout his cage for where his nails might be getting caught. Do you have a wire screen? That might be the problem. You need to remove/replace the object/thing that he is getting his nails caught in and keep an eye on his other nails. If the wick is still there, then the nails should regrow. ;)
