while young iguana's are not sexually dimorphic, there ARE ways to find out their sex. An EXPERIENCED vet, or herp keeper may "probe" your iguana.
If you do not need to know right away, you may wait for breeding season, where a female iguana might lay eggs soon after, or a male begins to deposit seminal plugs.
Male Iguana's have large femoral pores, a long the inside of their thigh. Female femoral pores are very small - like pinpoints. Male Iguana's have a bulky head, while female heads are more sleek. The male iguana has jowls and two large lumps at the back of their head (I forget what they are called). Male iguana's have two bulges at either side of their tail, near the vent. Female Iguana's lack these features, and are generally smaller than males.
