: how do you tell the difference between a male and a female iguana?
Well, your ig has to be over a year old to begin with. Secondly, the pores on the insides of their thighs -- tiny for a female and larger for a male (although this isn't a l00 percent sure thing. My ig had tiny ones at one year and I swore it was a female and a few months went by and they changed).
A female has a smaller, flatter head and a male has a bigger one, with a bigger dewlap and "jowls" (puffy where those "discs" are on his head).
Also, males (when they reach adulthood) get an orangey color (not totally, just an orangey "wash" over their green).
A male will be larger and bulgier at his vent than a female will.
