But you are partially right. As long as it is legal, PEOPLE are going to continue to sell iguanas. Very true! Does that make me want YOU do sell hatchlings? NO!! If you are so dead set on doing something good, start a rescue. Take in the unwanted ones, dont create more.
How can you tell me they will go to good homes? What kind of plan do you have to ensure this? Do you have the time and funds to properly educate everyone who purchases an iguana from you? Can you continue to follow up on your sales at least once per year on EVERY iguana you sell? Are you prepared to remove iguanas from homes where they are not being cared for properly? Are you able to house EVERY iguana you have ever sold? I truly believe you should be able to do this, so when half or more of the ones you sold come back to you after they are near death, you can nurse them back to health, and if you are lucky, will maybe find someone to adopt them.
You rest your case? You HAVE NO CASE. All you have is a stupid idea that no one is going to humor. Did you find any breeders yet? No?? Think about it!! Maybe its for a reason.
Aside from all of my personal issues in breeding iguanas, selling iguanas, etc, let me add another aspect to this. There IS NO MONEY in selling iguanas. You may make a total profit of $10 or less per animal. You will spend at least that much feeding one animal before you sell it.
The reason most pet stores sell iguanas is to lure customers in for the $200-300 worth of iguana care items they will need (caging, lighting, heat, misc other supplies). That is where the money is.
: Mark, as long as its legal breeders are going to sell iguanas. would you rather have them go to a petstore or to me who will keep them safe and give them to good homes? I rest my case.
Do me a favor. Humor me. Find a rescue in your area. Go visit them. Look at their iguanas... Notice how many of them were subjected to neglect for years... Notice how many are still sick. Ask how many they have taken in that died in their care. Ask how many they take in per year. Ask how many are actually adopted out. Handle a few mean ones. Get bitten once or twice. Let them scratch the crap out of you. Tell me what you think about it then.
When you are done doing that, I will ask you again. How would you like to sponsor one of our rescued iguanas that was sold by a pet store or person LIKE YOU? Can you financially support this? I dont think so.

: : Thanks... Hey, how would you like to sponsor an iguana that you sold and wound up in a rescue?

: : : hey look mark, there are breeders out there. until it is illegal to breed iguanas i will buy them and see if i can find these great green lizards a chance. most breeders sell them to petshops where they are mistreated and eventually die. i at least try to give them good homes and sure i make a buck or two doing it but its better than the petshops so dont bash me i want to do good for these iguanas.
: : :
: : : : : Look. We HAD 21 rescued iguanas today... But lost one this evening. So we only have 20 now. Do you honestly think I want you out there selling MORE hatchlings?? No way. For every iguana you sell, I can guarantee I will take a sick one in. How does this affect me? In a major way. You have NO CLUE what you are doing until you see what I have to see on a daily basis.
: : : : : I dont care if you have 50 healthy iguanas. Chances are over half of the ones you sell end up either dead in the first year, or in a rescue such as ours.
: : : : : If you want to make a couple extra bucks, get a second job at the local convenience store. If you want to save iguanas, start doing rescue work. If you want to find iguana breeders, look elsewhere. NO ONE is going to give in here... Trust me, there ARE NO BREEDERS on this forum.

: : : : : : First of all I am not a troll. I have 4 iguanas and treat them better than most owners. Secondly I am very serious about getting iguanas for cheap. Would you rather have these poor little iguanas going to your local petshop i.e. petco where they stack 30 in a 40 gallon tank? I would treat them humanely and only sell them to good owners. I am just looking for a business opportunity to make a few xtra bucks and save them from the lowly conditions of petstores around the country. Now if that is a bad thing, then be juvenile and go ahead and call me names.
: : : : :
: : : : : : p.s. serious breeders that have baby igs to sell email me with your price. thanks.
: : : : : : : : lol, i am used to these people. There is a high demand for iguanas where i live so I know that some breeders have lots of iguanas for sale for cheap. So if any breeders are out there and want to get rid of their inventory email me at douglasw30@aol.com.

: : : : : : : : : That was your first mistake bub... now your gonna be chewed out.
