Considering that only a portion survive, I would support banning imports. The next problem is that, like puppy mills, the idiots who will breed are the ones that will get on this forum and ask questions after the fact. I think there should be a permit to breed and that knowledge of the species should be required. Driving the price up is what needs to be done. Idiots who think they don't cost enough to deserve vet care don't need live pets.

Incidently, I mention the humane society report in my talks. I didn't think it was too one sided. There are problems, that those of us who educate need to address.
