My first iguana, please help.

Im having some problems with my iguana hopefully someone can help. I got him just over a week ago. When i first got him I could pick it up and pet it and he was fine he would crawl on your hand and eat his food. Now my iguana will run away from me and try to wip me with its tail each time i go in the cage. He isnt really eating and today when i got home from work he had burrowed himself underneath his water dish and was hiding there. I dont know what i did is he uncomfortable with his surroundings? Should i force him to let me hold him? Should i let him get more comfortablewith his cage before handling him more?
