: that the not-for-profit rescue organizations were able to "relieve the city of any financial liabilities" and that Cocheco Valley and Broken Reptile Rescue and Education were able take in all of the animals that WERE surrendered (read into this that NOT EVERY animal was surrendered). It's also nice to know that CVHS and BRRE will be able to fund the care of the animals that were surrendered from a business that the Dover Police felt necessary to close without the city of Dover having to offer dime one for the effort even though the city felt it necessary to call CVHS and BRRE in to consult on and remove the reptiles.

: This was a close one - Dover nearly had to actually pay for the care of these animals. Good thing they didn't go ahead and execute the search warrant that they supposedly had in their possession. If they had done that instead of talking the shop into surrendering the animals then Dover would have been on the hook for the finances. Notice the deliberate clarification of "$10 per day for dogs and cats - not mice and snakes". Evidently reptiles still are not considered animals.

: At least the animals are safe. Dover was initially going to transport all of them in an open-air horse transport on a day when the ambient temp was approximately 40*. What's the windchill conversion for that when travelling at 65 m.p.h. ? Sometimes I really wonder......
