got a new ig

hi i have just received our first ig she is 1 and half years old but not tamed could anyone advise me on the easiest way to tame an ig every time we go to near here cage she gets ready to whip we havent handled her yet thought that it is best to leave her for 3 or 4 days to settle down just change her food and water daily we have snakes and bearded dragons so we are not totally new to the reptile world thank you dennis
