It's name brand is Neosporin, but you can get the
generic equivalent at like a wal-mart for cheaper.
It is a clear gel in a small tube, the consistency
of vaseline.
It's to help heal faster, Melissa Kaplan has
recommended it on her site as being safe for
igs and my vet told me just this weekend that it
was perfectly safe to use. It keeps bacteria out,
keeps the wound moisturized and has antibiotic
to fight infection and promote healing. Even if
it is not an infection, the ointment will keep the
area moist and clean, which sounds better to me than
doing nothing and letting it stay dry. Might be
worth a try anyway, as long as it's not spreading.
