****I wanted a baby iguana Mark, not an older one with an attitude.****
I'm not here to attack, badmofo, but just wanted to comment on this quote. Just because you get a juvenile doesn't gaurantee he will be tame forever or even at all. Iguanas are wild animals and prone to natural instincts for the most part.
Ever heard of Harry? (Correct me if I'm wrong HD)Harry was tame for several years and one morning his owners woke up to find he had become dangerously aggressive. He went from cuddling on the easy chair to lunging and tail-whipping. You can probably visit iguanafirst.com and you'll see him. He is beautiful and his owners still love and care for him.
I only share this with you because you need to be prepared for the fact that not all Igs become tame.
On another note. I think the reason people are upset about this whole thing is that they are absolutely and totally smitten with their Iguanas. I know I am. The more you read the posts on this site, the more you will learn the mind-set of the majority of us. We are truly committed to educating people on the proper care of their Igs.
I'm a pet-store customer, unfortunately. I didn't find this forum, or ANY for that matter until 8 mo.s after I'd purchased Baby. I feel bad about that, but thank goodness I found Kingsnake. I have recieved the majority of my knowlege from this forum and MK's book Iguanas for Dummies. Baby is now 2 1/2 years old and 41 inches. He's doing GREAT! I highly recommend you purchase the book. You can order it at Books A Million or online.
Well, my ONE thought turned out to be many. Hope they help you. Good luck. J
