Problem's with my iggy's snout

Hi everyone,
I have a cage that is 3.5x3.5x5 high, the front has two doors, one on the bottom and one in the middle. The problem I think I have is I have regular metal screen on the bottom, and when Dino wants to get out, he keeps rubbing his nose on it, and it has broken his skin now. I know I need to change the screen, probably to plexiglass, or something less irritating. Does anyone have any hints, on how to stop him from doing this, or better ways I may be able to protect him? Also I do let him out of his cage for several hours a day, when I am home of course. Any help is greatly appreciated.
