I got this off the PARC List Serv. This Palm Beach Reporter would like some info if anyone can assist him. Here is his e-mail and addy:
I am a newspaper reporter for The Palm Beach Post in Florida... I want to
do a story on iguanas living in the wild in my neck of So. Fla., which
is Palm Beach County. I'm wondering if anyone's keeping tabs on
populations, and what effect it might have on the local ecosystem, if
any at all... etc... I know they're here, and I'm wondering if it's a
new invasion... On bike rides through a local park, I see 2 footers on a
regular basis basking in the sun... Closer to home, I saw a 3 1/2 footer
last winter up in the top of a tree in my back yard (took pictures).
Anyway, I've had trouble getting started on this because it seems like
no one (game and fish, animal care and control) is keeping track of
it... I'm interested also in other cool exotics that might be making a
move on PBC.... Any idea who I might contact? Please
respond by e-mail to Larry Hobbs lhobbs@pbpost.com .
Thanks, Larry
